Two funerals and a wedding

Nope, I’m not kidding. This week has been hard on my loved ones, and by extension me. I can’t fix things for the people in my life (heck I can’t even fix my own life) and I have to be content with being there for them.

The funerals were not deserved, these were people who deserved long happy lives. The wedding is deserved but somehow has paled under the losses.

One of our ‘toothless concert crew’ is gone, but I know when we are all together again we will be seeing Janice Joplin first; Or maybe Janice doing a duet with Jim Morrison, with Hendrix on the guitar and the dulling drums of John Bonham and Keith Moon.

I'm sorry for your losses and for the losses experienced by your loved ones as well. It's really hard when you get them in pairs or clumps. How sad especially that they overshadowed the happiness of a wedding!

Working on the principle that "misery loves company", this is a bad time of year for me. No recent losses but many family members who died around this time, who were born around this time but are no longer here, and of course --for me-- the empty Mother's / Father's Days.

All we can do is savor the presence of those who are still with us, occasionally tell them so, and try to think of the coming lives of the "happy couple".

I just ran into this yesterday, and thought you might like a copy:

Tell Them Now

If with pleasure you are viewing
Any work a man is doing,
If you like him or you love him tell him now.

Don't withhold your approbation
Til the parson makes oration
And he lies with snowy lilies on his brow,

For no matter how you shout it
He won't really care about it
He won't know how many teardrops you have shed

So if some praise is due him
Now's the time to slip it to him
For he cannot read his tombstone when he's dead.

More than fame and more than money
Is the comment kind and sunny
And the hearty warm approval of a friend,

For it gives to life a savor
And it makes you stronger, braver,
And it gives you heart and courage to the end.

If he earns your praise, bestow it
If you like him, let him know it
Let the words of true encouragement be said.

Do not wait till life is over
And he's underneath the clover,
For he cannot read his tombstone when he's dead.

Re: Sorry!
you know, it's funny, someone sent me that the other week. I've sorto f been on this 'the future is unsure' kick recently - and then to have a week like this is very wierd.

Once I was at the wedding everythign was fine - it was getting ready for the weding that was hard.
