Flat the whole thing

not my world, but my chericters

Willaim finaly says somthing to Gawian that he should have said a LONG time ago...

It's the whole of "Flat"

Teg is irritated.  She had been standing at the Slytherin commonroom door for what feels like ages – knocking of all things.  Finally a first year opens the door.

“What do you want Griffendor?” the first year asks with a sneer.

“To see my brother,” she replies back haughtily.

“And who may that be?”

“William Timms,” she says starting to move the first year out of the way but he stands firm.

“The Seer is not taking penitents tonight.”

“I am not a penitent!” Teg says drawing herself up cloak falling open to reveal her prefect badge, just then a hand drops on the first years shoulder.

“She’s my sister,” William says in his soft voice.

“She doesn’t look like you Sir,” the boy chirps, shying away nervously.

“Well, you are the only one that thinks so,” William laughs pushing the boy aside, “over zealous house elf boy,” William shrugs, “Aren’t you then Shmidt?”

“I’m supposed to protect you,” the boy says petulantly.

“Gawain protects me,” William murmurs to no one in particular.

“We haven’t seen him in days sir,” the boy responds.

“He was at Qudditch practice today.  I saw him out the window.”

“Yes but -”

Teg was getting the feeling if she didn’t interrupt she would be standing in the hall in front of the Slitherin commonroom for days, “William I came to talk to you about Gawain.”

“Yes?” William asks gesturing to the boy, who scampers away.

“You need to come with me, he won’t listen to me and everyone else is afraid he will get angry with them.”

“Gawain? Angry?”

“Well he is team captain.  For some reason people think he would kick them off the team or something.”

“That’s ridicules.”

“Of course it is,” Teg says taking Will’s hand in hers “but you need to come with me now.”

When Teg gets back to the commonroom Gawain is still sitting on the sofa.  The same place he had been sitting when she left.  Around him is the rest of the team, but everyone else had gone up to the dorms.  Teg supposes, chased would be a better word, after all the team probably doesn’t want the relationship between William and Gawain to be general knowledge.  Better to leave the rest of the house think she and Gawain are an item.  William hangs behind her, clearly uncomfortable with being in the Griffindor tower.  Gawain doesn’t even look up from his schoolwork as William looks at him.

“Well?” Teg asks Will.

“Well what?” he hisses back, “he looks fine.  He’s doing homework.”

“You are so observant brother.  You need to look a bit closer.”

“I shouldn’t be here,” he pulls back a bit more.

“It’s not like we don’t know about you…” Jacob mutters and Kathleen stomps on his foot.  Will looks horror struck.

“You told them?” he asks Gawain in a strangled voice.  Gawain finally looks up at his lover.

“I don’t have time to get into it now,” he snips, “I have to figure this out,” he gestures to the open books and his wand.  The team retreats from around him and Will, Teg follows as they sit down around a table.  She glances over her shoulder at Will and Gawain.

“Do you think it’ll work?” Jacob asks.

Kathleen makes an odd noise, “It’s not like it could get much worse.  Between school and the team I think he’s gone around the bend!”

“Does anyone know what he’s trying to figure out?” Theotherone asks.

“No idea,”Andraste replies.

“He’s just been sitting there like that since the end of practice,” Thelastone says in a pained voice.

“Well he has always been so focused,” Teg shrugs.

“It was that career counseling,” Jacob says darkly, “he hasn’t slept since.  He’s even been keeping me awake!”

“Do they even see each other anymore?”  Thelastone asks.

“Not from what I heard when I went to get Will…” Teg sighs.  This isn’t the normal state of things.  William and Gawain should be inseparable, at least when time allows.  But now when time allows Gawain is poring over a book, or forcing them into extra Quiddich practices.   Teg looks over her shoulder again to see her brother standing stiffly over Gawain.

“Stop staring at them,” Kathleen says, “if you keep staring at them they will never get this done and we will be trapped with this Gawain forever.”

“What are you doing here?” Gawain asks.

“Teg came to get me.  She seemed to think there was something wrong.”

“And now that you know there isn’t, you’ll be going then?”

William looks from Gawain to Teg, “No I don’t think I can.”

“I don’t want you here,” Gawain says looking away.

“I know,” William says sitting down primly on the table across from Gawain, “I don’t want to be here, but we must make the best of it.”

“I don’t want to make the best of it.  I want to get my homework done.”

“It’s Friday.”

“I have practice all weekend. Next week we play your lot.”

“And I’m sure, exhausting yourself and your team will help you win.”

“What would you know about it?”

“Just because I’m not on a team?  That’s cruel, you know they won’t let me!”

“You still wouldn’t know about it would you?  I’m busy and I don’t need you,” Gawain’s voice is cold and flat.  William pulls back even more.

“What is wrong with you?”

“I saw you,” Gawain hisses.

“Saw me what?”

“Snogging that girl,” Gawain hisses.

William just looks at Gawain for a few moments before responding, “You saw me being snogged upon not snogging.”

“Now you’re just being ridiculous.”

“No I’m not!  Matilda has always been like that!  You know she’s fancied me since we were first years!”

“Likely story…” Gawain says head down.  William sits down near Gawain, but not so close as to be invading his space.

“So you think I’m cheating on you with a girl? Is that why you haven’t spoken to me?”

Gawain shrugs not looking at William, “What am I supposed to think?” he asks quietly.

“That I was being mauled by a girl in the stairway?” Gawain actually turns away from William at this suggestion, “Or possibly that I was tired of being picked at for not fancying girls and Matilda was an easy way out… that I have quite enough to worry about with out having to worry about that as well.”

“Why would anyone bother you?” Gaw asks finally looking at William, “You are friends with Jamie…”

“As if that would solve anything, you have no idea what it’s like in Slythiern do you?”

“Just what you tell me.”

“Well we aren’t all so pleasant as me or Jamie.  Things can be difficult sometimes…”

“And how could snogging some girl possibly make it better?”

“Gawin, if I didn’t love you – my lord you are thick!”

“What did you say?”  Gawain asks softly.

“That you are thick?”

“That I love you?”

“Yes that.  You’ve never said that…”

“Well I thought you knew,” Now it’s William’s turn to look away, “You always know how I’m feeling.”

“Yes, but you never said it.”

“Well I didn’t think I would have to.”

“Well it would have been nice,” Gawain is close to William now.

“You don’t think I love you?”

“Well… and the girl… and you can be so…”

“Gawain,” William laughs, slipping his arms around Gawain and pulling him close.

“So I won’t be seeing you with that girl anymore?”

“Promise,” Gawain says into Williams’s chest.

“I promise Darling,” William says kissing the top of Gawain’s head, “I wouldn’t do anything  to hurt you, not ever.”
