My cousin sent me a short piece about gardens at the white house

I haven’t read the M. Pollen piece that is referenced in it, but I often agree with him at least to some extent. People don’t seem to know/think/care where their food comes from. I find that very worrisome.

Also, 'cause I can see this comming up as a point, an acher of lawn takes 10 times the agro chemichals as the same amount of garden/farmland. Converting the south lawn to garden would probably decrease the cost of lawn care at the White House.

That's cool! I hope Pres. Obama opts to do that!

One of the reasons I don't do jack to my yard (other than mow it and put in more herbs/flowers, preferably that I can eat) is because how bad all the chemicals are for the environment.

The only fertilizer I use on my veg is compost and manure; nothing else. We really don't need it.

This whole keeping up the the Jones yard drives me crazy!

I often find myself during lawn mowing season how many bunnies it would take to keep my lawn eaten to a suitable height.

I hate living in suburbia. O_o

yeah I think he should too.

last year we let our gaden just grow out - but normaly we use manure.

Lawn care is a HUGE busness in this country and lawns just say 'I don't have to grow my own food'

I wouldn't either. Or at least looking into it. I can see the White House Staff blocking it though on the grounds of 'well we just don't do that anymore' and I don't know how many decisions the Presidant gets to make abotu the White House (I thought about it more last night)

It would be cool - and we arn't talking the whole lawn (althoguh it could be the whole lawn - that would be awesome) but I can't see the White House Staff going for it...
