OK so should totaly start writing up my own mettas and posting them, instead of posting them in Trystan830's journal as responses  to her posts... mind you more people read her journal then even glance at mine... but then again I've never been one to make freinds easly.  This isn't meta - this is a 'run it up the flag pole and see who saluts' thing...

So I've been watching about a half an hour of Smallvile every week - except for this week - I watched the whole thing.  I'll be honist - I really have nothign against Smallvile (except that it replaced Dead Last) but I've never been a huge fan of DC comics - and Superman, of all the DC chericters, has always done the least for me.  Aquaman on the other hand has always rocked my world, and as a teen I discovered Cyborg, whom I also love, so you better bet that at 8 pm on Thursday I was parked infrount of my TV watchign Smallville.   I think I will watch the Justus League if CW actulay makes it.

On the CW frount: You all (all 3 of you) know that I was displeased by the  merger.  CW and UPN served very difernt vewireships and I don't feel like they have done anything merge the two and form a identity of their own.  I know what I woudl do (or at least try to do) if I was in their shoes... but I doubt they will see it that way.  Anyway I woudl try to do 6 nights of programing (I think they do 6 nights right?) three of comidies and realitiy and three of genre fiction.  A few of the 'old standards' have to go.  Gilmore Girls needs to go at the end of the year (and for anyone who says that directors are more impornat that writers I'd like to point you to GG) as does 7th Heaven - the creative staff of both shows seem to have made a desision last year that they were ending and spent a lot of time tieing up plaot lines in preperation.  They were both done at the end of last year - now they have entered the realm of the living dead  (althoguh I would like the Chericter Dean to show up in GG to tie off his plot line - but that would mean a week without Sam on Supernatural...)

The problem with genre fiction is it has to be marketed.  Both well and carfuly, it has to be given time to grow.  So as of now they have three solid genre shows in Smallville, Supernatural and Veronica Mars.  I think Samllville and VM can anchor their own nights, but (and it hurts to say this) Supernatural needs a strong lead in still (and woudl it KILL you to advertise a little?) so we need to 8pm shows and one 9 pm show.  JL seems to be in the works and the obvious place for it is 9pm after Smallville, but since that is the time slot of doom... well we will see. But for this argument we'lll just say that J: goes 9pm thursday.  VM will stay 9pm Tuesday (with some lead in show - I would hope another mystery orented show)

This leaves my boys whatever the network decides the third genre day will be - traditionaly Sunday night (cries) but posably Wednesday at 9 (now open, since Lost has moved to 10) IMHO the perfict place for it.  What woudl I like ot see as a lead in?  Humm - something smart and funny (I'm thinking like Invisable Man or Dead Last - both were 8pm shows) I would ferther hope that feature female chericters strongly - Yes I woudl like to see SPN lead in by a show with a female hero. Why? I think that a) CW will need more female leads in genre stuff (not takeing away from Lois, Lana and Chole or Veroncica - but none of them are a Buffy - and I know as many if not MORE male fans of Buffy than female and SPN really needs to expand it's male audence- or maybe they jsut arnt joning in in the fandome?) and b) CW needs more female leads in genre fiction.

I don't honistly give a rats ass about what they do with their comidys and reality shows - I like some of them - but I'd move heaven and earth for genre stuff (even the show i don't like or don't watch)

I should say a bunch of stuff about SPN here, but my brain hasn't unmelted from wet Sam and Drunk Sam yet.

Drunk Sam made me want to take care of him - and actuly take care of Dean as well... and wet Sam ... well... good lord boy you need to show off a little more!

I've already said how I felt about Eric canning Jo and how he seems to take the fan's opinions WAY to seirously. He dosn't ive us time to warm up to soemthing and I think that makes him make mistakes, first Meg and now Jo. I WOULD have liked to seen Jo tie her hair back in No Exit.
